About HLAC
The Hispanic/Latino Alumni Council (HLAC) was established in December 1999 to serve as a network base for Latino alumni from Kean University to enhance their career and professional growth. The alumni group soon committed itself to share experiences, and provide support and guidance to Latino undergraduates through the creation of the HLAC Mentoring Program. It currently operates in conjunction with the EOC Spanish Speaking Program. As the alumni group became more established, it added another vital tier to its services by establishing a scholars’ fund. Each year, since 2009, HLAC awards a select number of Latino undergraduates a one-time scholarship of up to $500 to defray the costs of books and other school supplies. Our network also draws together family and friends at its annual BBQ and Happy Hour mixers.
